CAT 2018 - 2019: Updates, Exam Pattern and Preparation Tips

Preparing for Masters of Business Administration (MBA)? CAT 2019 is a milestone for all aspirants who want to take admission in top B schools in India. CAT 2019: CAT is a national-level entrance examination conducted by India Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year. Important Updates
According to the latest notification, registrations for CAT will begin in 1st or 2nd week of August 2018 and will close by 3rd or 4th week of September 2018. Admit cards will be issued in October 2018 and finally, the exam will be conducted in November 2018. It will be conducted in two slots: Morning (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and evening (2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.). The final result will be declared in January 2019.

Exam Pattern
The motive of CAT Exam 2019 is to test aptitude, logical thinking and decision making the ability of a student. The score will be given on the following basis:

  • Quantitative ability (102 marks)

  • 24 MCQs and 10 Non-MCQs (60 min.)

  • Verbal ability and reading comprehension (102 marks)

  • 24 MCQs and 10 Non-MCQs (60 min.)

  • Data Interpretation and logical reasoning (96 marks)

  • 22 MCQs and 8 Non-MCQs

  • (TOTAL)- 300 marks

  • After clearing his/her online exam, a candidate is allowed to search for cutoffs of different IIMs. All institutes consider the overall profile of a candidate such as CAT’s score, 10th, 12th and graduation marks, extra-curricular activities, etc. After that only, they are called for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI), i.e., GDPI rounds. The cumulative scores of all rounds are considered for final cut-off for each institute. So, you need to prepare really well.

CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Students must have completed his/her graduation from any recognized College or University and should have scored minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD). There is no age limit for taking CAT. Candidates appearing for final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.
